Sugar Plum Fairies danced in her head..

What happened after reading “Ella Bella ballerina and the nutcracker”
and way too much time with the glue gun and sprinkles later! I’m now a huge fan of James Mayhews magical dreamland! The fact that this book is part of a series is just icing on the perfectly pink cake!

Happy Halloween!

Firsts..

Ella’s first day of pre school..

In a triple espresso paced world, it’s hard for me to feel nostalgic about anything it seems. I’m always looking forward to the next thing, and with a newborn and an almost three year old there is no time for deep “thoughts”. But as I dropped Ella off for her first day of pre school I can’t help but want to pause time for a little and try to appreciate this moment.

I feel so proud that Ella was more excited than scared today, happy to see that she was thoughtful but slightly shy when she met brand new buddies, and bittersweet that she didn’t need me to stay that long after getting her settled into her new classroom. The training wheels are off and I can’t help but think she was just in my arms as my baby and now she is growing up into this real person with her own personality! I don’t need time to go backwards, I love where she is and where we are as a family right now.. But geeze did we get here fast! Makes me appreciate these sleepless nights with Ethan because before I know it, he’ll be here too.

Life is beautiful and I am loving this adventure we call family!

El dia de Madre

I have a lot to be thankful for.. especially all of the strong women in my life.  Great mothers, great teachers, great leaders, and great friends.  When I think about all the strong women in my life I can’t help but appreciate everyone uniqueness.  Wishing everyone a fabulous weekend with the one’s you love! =)

Each day is brand new..

What a wonderful week we’ve had just being a family. Had a great visit in Hoboken NJ with my sister And brother in law and our little niece. This weekend we see my whole family in Atlantic City for what is sure to be an epic weekend. Nate goes to Brazil soon so just soaking family up and trying to make each day something special.. It’s too easy trying to rush through my routine lately and I’ve been trying to bring back a little bit of that magic you can find in the everyday when you slow down and look for it.

Photo Saffari!

So I know it’s early to be planning Christmas cards, but the leaves have been turning the most beautiful colors this last week and I knew I had to get the family out for a Christmas picture!  Hopefully I can just print them out on cardstock and write some text on the photo using picmonkey.com and am hoping to bring the card in at around $5!

And Then There Was Lucy!

It’s been a truly remarkable weekend!  My sister kept us all on edge as she found out she was being induced on Saturday, and we patiently waited..

okay.. maybe not so patiently waited… photo(6)

But it was all worth it in the end… because Lucy Elizabeth Black was born and she blew our whole family away with Love. Feeling more blessed than ever before and I know her and Ella are going to be the best of friends.. I have a damn good sister and a pretty amazing niece and God Child!

Old school

My parents are in town visiting this weekend and so we have been over at my uncles house in falls church all day. My uncle loves Saturday mass.. So we went with him to Vinson Hall which is a retirement home for military people that my uncle likes to attend mass at. We were the youngest people there of course, and Ella was such a hit!! I was really amazed at all the elderly women’s fashion though!! It totally surprised me but I’m pretty sure I saw the coolest vintage pieces ever and cute shoes to boot! Even the materials and cuts of the clothing looked so rich and classy.. It just goes to show you can find inspiration anywhere! These ladies did old school like pros.. I was a tad curious to see what else they had in their closets! 🙂

Great Saturday with family!
